Cannot Get Shit Done

I cannot get shit done, it seems. At least in the Gina Mizzoni Photography blogging department.

I hate saying I’m going to do something and, then, failing miserably in that pursuit. It sucks majorly. People have called me tenacious, a go-getter, Type A personality (thank you?), determined and many other similar things. And, sure… I am. But when it comes to maintaining my own damn blog, it seems I cannot get shit done. I feel like a failure and I can’t stand feeling like a failure. Continue reading

5 Best Photography Resources on the Internet

Do you fall asleep nearly every night, with visions of compositions dancing in your head? Are you constantly taking picture, after picture, after picture? Do you feel totally pumped up because you just bought your first DSLR and you can’t wait to rock it? Have you already been rocking it? (I know you have!) Welcome to the club, fellow shutterbug! Photography is addicting, isn’t it? You’ll never stop learning, growing and loving this incredible field. If you’re like me, someone who “came” later in the game (yes, photography is very much like an orgasm) you’re probably wondering what the hell took you so long… Ah, who cares?! You’re doing it NOW, and that’s all that matters… Continue reading

Power Posing Can Change Your Life

Every single one of us has moments when we feel intimidated, scared, not good enough or even like an impostor. It’s a struggle that we all deal with, some of us more often than others. This state of uneasiness can surface in all sorts of situations. A job interview, public speaking, the first day/week/month at a new job or graduate program, and launching a new business are just a few of the many examples. But, how amazing would it be if you could magically turn off that feeling, and activate your awesomeness? If you could, within two minutes, transform your feelings of inadequacy into genuine self-empowerment? Thanks to social psychologist and Harvard Business School Associate Professor Amy Cuddy, you can. It’s called “power posing.” And power posing can change your life! Continue reading

Best Lens Ever: Nikkor 50 mm f/1.4G

After a two-week-long game of “Should I? Should I not?” I finally decided to just bite the bullet and replace my 50mm f/1.8 lens with a Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G (best lens ever).

Why the hesitation? Because I’m currently saving up for a few quite pricey lenses, each costing between $1,500 and $2,500. Yeah, EACH. Pricey, right?

So, I wasn’t sure if using some of that fund money to upgrade my main portrait lens would be worth it. (Spoiler Alert: It was totally worth it!) Continue reading

The lady is damn good at what she does. Her tagline, “Wicked Branding. No Bullshit.” says it all.

Not only is Des super cute, but she’s also uber creative. So, I knew together we could create something really special. Continue reading

Family Time in Vegas

After a long week of work, it feels good to relax with my two favorite “people”: Harvey and Sadie! Yes, when it comes to family time in Vegas, it just isn’t the same without them by my side. Continue reading

Confession: Why I Have Not Blogged

People, I have a confession to make. There’s a reason why I have not blogged regularly, lately. No, it’s not because I’m too busy. (Yes, I’m busy… but that’s not why). No, it’s not because I cannot think of anything to blog about. No, it isn’t because I keep forgetting. (Those would all be legitimate, yet inexcusable reasons. However, they’re not mine… not today, at least!) Continue reading
