Bohemian Home: Decorating on a Budget
I was really proud to have accomplished one of my biggest goals for the year of 2015, which was to finally decorate our home. After living here for three years (now four), I decided it was time to make the changes needed for our home to better reflect our personality and style. And, fortunately, Dave was on board with that plan.
With the exception of new flooring, all of the changes made to our home were incredibly affordable. For the most part, all that was required was some paint, painting tools, Pinterest and an open mind.
While our home is very much still in the transformation phase and has a long way to go before our vision is fully realized, I feel that it’s important to embrace where we’re currently at in this process. Therefore, I decided to share some photos of what our home looks like today, along with a few tips that may help inspire others with decorating on a budget. Most of these changes were made over the course of the entire year of 2015. Continue reading
Death Valley Pupfish: Living Fossils
Living in the desert is a privilege. I’m often reminded of that whenever I go hiking or exploring in the expansive lands that surround our crazy 24/7 city. Outside the glittering lights and honking horns, life is quiet and serene… the landscape is breathtaking… and adventure abounds. The best part? You don’t have to travel very far at all, thanks to so many amazing options at your disposal.
The more you explore these lands, the more you’ll want to experience… at which point, if you’re up for a day-trip, you’ll be in luck, as there are so many places located just a short day-trip away! Continue reading
My Fur Babies, My Everything
There is no one clear, set definition of what a family is. It’s something that can only be defined by each individual. It’s the place where your heart resides. It’s the symbolic home of everything you hold dearest to you. For me, the core of that are my fur babies, my everything. Continue reading
Blogging Fail: Prisoner of Self-Censorship
Confession: The voice of my soul has become a prisoner of self-censorship and, as a result, the amount of regular content I’ve shared on this blog has flat-lined to the point of nonexistence.
When it comes to writing, I have allowed my inner critic to drown out my voice. By setting too many boundaries on what’s appropriate to share on this blog, I have lost connection to my soul expression. My attention to what’s an appropriate or smart content strategy has pinned me down to the point of blogging paralysis. Continue reading
Why You Need Professional Headshots
Decisions, decisions, decisions. “To headshot, or not to headshot,” that is the question. Hopefully, this post will help answer your questions/some of the most common questions about professional headshots. Let’s get right to the point…
“Professional Headshots, why even bother?”
The answer is simple: Why the heck not? Just kidding.
A good portrait brings a feeling of human contact to the business relationship, and helps to establish a foundation from which to build trust. By being able to put a face to a name, a prospective client thinks of you and your company as more than just an entity, but a person (or group of people, that make up that entity). And, let’s be honest here – despite the crazy amount of competition that likely exists in your industry, there’s still only ONE you/your team… and your clients should connect with that from the get-go. Las Vegas is filled with many talented people, movers and shakers, and entrepreneurs – and I have had the pleasure of working with many through my freelance writing services and my photography business. And, for that reason, I’ve decided to start spotlighting these amazing people in an informative Q & A. I hope to give you a glimpse into the amazing work they do, while also showing off how they shine in front of my lens.
Today, we turn the spotlight to my good friend and photography client Nick Palmeri, as he discusses his work as a Registered Representative for Transamerica Financial Advisors, Inc., Transamerica Financial Group Division.
Here are a few headshot photos from the session we did last year. Isn’t he fabulous?

Birth Photography Las Vegas: Baby Astrid’s Story
There is no single moment more special in the life of a parent, than the birth of their child. A mother bringing her baby into the world is the ultimate symbol of life. The force of all things. It doesn’t get any deeper, more real or raw… And for a photographer like me, being able to photographically document such an event is the greatest privilege and honor I could ever imagine. It’s been a dream of mine for a long time; and, this past summer, that dream finally came true. I was given the opportunity to step into the sacred space of a home water birth, and capture in photographs the birth of a very special soul, to a very special family. Meeting Amanda and Richard Strange (and their whole family, actually) thanks to my friend Jessica, felt like destiny. I could not have imagined a more perfect couple to share this experience with.
Today, Amanda is sharing the Birth Story of her baby here on the blog, which is also filled with photos I took that night, along with a few extra from her personal collection. Please be advised that due to the nature of this subject, photos may contain graphic material and some nudity. This content is for a mature audience only. Please note that all photos were reviewed and approved by my client prior to being published. (I would never publish photos of clients without explicit permission.)
Okay, now on to Amanda’s beautiful story… (Grab some tissue; you’re going to need it!) Continue reading
