Newborn photography is a very specialized niche, and documents a once-in-a-lifetime moment in a child’s life. Those early days of bonding are unlike anything else, and a time when a parent knows their life will never be the same again. When it comes to finding the right photographer to capture their newborn, parents need a professional who understands the needs of a tiny infant… When my friend Celeste contacted me about taking photos of her soon-to-be baby, Kelsey, I didn’t know much about this type of photography, and was a little nervous. She assured me that she felt confident that I could do it. With a lot of research, preparation and special care, my first newborn photo shoot turned out to be a success. Sedona Vacation Part II: West Fork Trail

West Fork Trail, according to reviewers on Yelp, is one of the most popular hikes in the Sedona, Arizona area. “Family-friendly,” “fu**ing beautiful,” and “best hike in Sedona” are among the many praises given by Yelpers. All of that along with it being supposedly “dog-friendly” motivated us to select West Fork Trail as our first hike during the trip. And, I’m glad we did because the reviews were right on. Without Dad: Year One of Grief

Last Sunday, March 23rd marked the one year anniversary of my father’s death. It was one damn difficult day to say the least. I don’t think I adequately prepared myself for just how challenging that day would be, or the days following. This whole week has been filled with melancholic self-loathing. Year one of grief has been an emotional rollercoaster ride, and one that I thought would end with me in “Acceptance” mode. It isn’t every day that you leave your comfortable job of four years in the pursuit of your dreams. But, that’s exactly what I did last Wednesday, my last day at my former employer. The exit was bittersweet, as I loved many of the people I worked with, and the purpose of the company. My job was easy. My income was reliable. And, I knew exactly what I could expect just about every day. However, I couldn’t grow myself or my business the way I wanted to if I stayed in a day-job. So, it was time to bid a farewell, and take those first few steps forward into the great unknown. And, so I did. Continue reading →

What is a Booking Fee?

 

Effective February 15, 2014, Gina Mizzoni Photography requires that all clients pay a booking fee. What is a booking fee? It is a fee paid at the time of booking, and secures your date. The booking fee for Gina Mizzoni Photography is simply 50% of your session fee paid up front. The remaining 50% of your session fee is paid on the morning of your shoot day. Photography For a Cause: FUPI Pet Adoption

FUPI stands for “Foreclosed Upon Pets, Inc.” and, according to their website, is “a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to the rescue of domesticated animals that have been abused and/or abandoned by their owners as a result of economic hardship, including home foreclosure, loss of employment, insufficient income, or death and illness.” What makes FUPI so unique is that they place animals into foster homes until they can be adopted into forever homes. And, as a result, the dogs and cats are not stuck in shelters, but instead in the arms of loving foster parents. Continue reading →
