Graduating high school is a big deal, as it marks a huge milestone in one’s life. It’s a bridge between childhood and young adulthood. It’s a time when you start to make personal choices about your future. Will you go to college? Will you live at home? Will you work part-time? Will you work full-time? What do you want to do with the rest of your life? It’s a time for trying new things, figuring it out, rising above obstacles, and making choices that will affect the rest of your life. It opens up a new chapter, one which YOU get to write (not your parents). The symbolism associated with graduating high school is one of “coming to age,” and that is so significant…

As a lifestyle photographer and sentimental soul, I love capturing such pivotal moments in a person’s life. Graduate/Senior photography is one example. And, earlier this summer, I had the opportunity to shoot not just one graduate session, but TWO sessions in one. My subjects were two brothers, Juron and Kameron. The younger of the two, Kameron, had just graduated high school; while, Juron, had graduated the previous year, but never took senior photos. Their mother, Angela, decided to book shoots for both boys, to celebrate their important milestones.

This was by far, one of the most fun shoots I’ve ever had. Juron and Kameron were both complete naturals in front of the camera, and very cooperative and willing to try different poses and concepts. We incorporated their passion for football and some of their achievements into the shoot (for example, Kameron was a Weightlifting champion). And, we even took a few shots with their little sister and mother – two ladies who’d made an important impact on their lives.

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Juron and Kameron! I wish them all of the success in the world.
