Celebrating 2013

Celebrating 2013…

Holiday Council was birthed by Molly Mahar of Stratejoy four years ago. It’s a group of women who come together for 21 days of gratitude, self-reflection analysis and releasing of the previous year, and planning for the upcoming year. Last night, I began the process for 2013/2014 – my second year participating.

A self-help/improvement junkie, I really value the power of this program and the others created by Molly. She was my life coach for about 18 months, and I’ve also participated in many of her programs, including Joy Equation, Finding Your Passion Work, and Get It Off the Ground. She’s freakin’ amazing.

So anyway. Tonight, we had our first call. There are probably close to 200 women participating, and from all over the world. It’s always empowering to experience the sisterhood of so many like-minded women. (Visit www.Stratejoy.com to learn more about our tribe.)

There were a few writing tasks for the evening. One was to list down all of those 2013 things that I’m celebrating. They were:

– Obtaining my business license
– Growing in my craft
– Developing new friendships
– Strengthening relationships
– Weathering the storm that was my dad’s death, and all of the post-shit
– Being a great pet mama
– Honoring my needs (physical, emotional, spiritual)
– Making big, bold decisions with no regrets
– Allowing others to take care of me when I needed it most
– Really, truly connecting with others
– Speaking out for what I believe in
– Skinny-dipping in a chilly natural spring pool, surrounded by lots of hippies
– Not getting shit-faced, blacked out drunk (I totally forgot about that one, but just remembered it, and it SO counts… I guess I’m a responsible adult now)
– Doing lots of voice-overs for my day-job (it’s so much fun)
– Being okay with taking things day-by-day
– Embracing the imperfections
– Spending an incredible evening with my dad
– Giving a eulogy I’m proud of
– Experiencing an insane, paranormal evening at my house alone
– Going on a ghost hunt with tons of cool paranormal investigators
– Falling in love with cooking again
– Loving people… all kinds of people
– Going to see Ani DiFranco by myself (and taking a cab, as I’m a responsible adult, after all)
– Spending quality time with my mom and brother
– Enjoying the sixth year of love with my amazing boyfriend
– Taking the pup-pups on their very first vacation
– Allowing my intuition to have a central role in my life
– Strengthening of inner gifts
– Avoiding things, people and places that make me feel icky
– Owning my life and authenticity
– Setting boundaries for myself, and respecting those of others
Trusting myself

The last one, “trusting myself,” made me smile because it was the theme for this year: TRUST. I learned to trust myself. And, also the Universe. And others. But, most importantly, ME. What an amazing gift to have acquired on my 30th year (a milestone year). <3
