Film meets Comedy Rap

Film meets Comedy Rap

My number one passion is photography. But, for my boyfriend, it’s all about music. Dave is a very talented musician, who composes tracks for video games, film, television and other media. You can check out his website here.

As some of you may know, he’s also a part of the local music comedy scene. And, he’s been doing it way before it was cool. (Sorry, LMFAO! You are NOT original.)

His groups include Fa-Cockta, a Jewish comedy pop/rap group; the Polarbear MCs, described as “the coldest MCs on earf;” D-mize & Dee.Rockz, a nerdy rap duo; Tha Big Yummy, a ridiculous, yet memorable smorgasbord of funny, yet poppy tunes; and MC Randumb & Jewish Dave, the stars of this past weekend…

Project M
MC Randumb & Jewish Dave, in conjuction with Las Vegas filmmaker Alex Colonna and Theatre 7 owner and PolyGrind Film Festival Founder Chad Clinton Freeman, are currently producing an experimental film, Project M. The film is a mockumentary about MC Randumb & Jewish Dave’s rise to fame. It’s gory, silly and not for the easily queasy or offended, but sure to be a hit among genre and grindhouse film fans.

Synopsis: The American Dream is dead; all that is left is Thug Life. Go behind the scenes of the infamous duo MC Randumb & Jewish Dave for the most controversial rapumentary ever made. The experimental docupic weaves comedy, horror and crime into an explosive look at America’s lust for violence and fame.

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of being a part of their first shoot. A number of local actors joined us at Theater 7 for the “concert scene.” As the official still photographer for Project M, I was asked to capture the evening.

It wasn’t all work and no play, however. There was delicious food, beats spun by DJ Day Won, a magic show by local celebrity and magician Seth Grabel and, of course, a live show by the stars and comedy duo MC Randumb & Jewish Dave. Plus, I got to chat with many of the actors, who were true gems.

Aside from having a very dry and persistent coughing fit, I definitely enjoyed myself.

If you would like to be a part of Project M, or even just want to show some support for a Las Vegas film production, please go and “Like” the Project M Facebook page. There, you’ll receive news, updates and a look behind-the scenes.

Here are a few photos from the evening. Enjoy!
