My Feel-Good Tactics…
Allergy Season in Las Vegas is officially here, and coincides with Cold Season. Ugh. At this time, I’m not certain if it’s allergies I’m suffering from, or a cold. But, considering that I don’t feel tired or run down, I’m going to assume it’s the first.
Whatever it is, I’m using it as my excuse for why I’ve let a whole week pass by without posting on my blog. … Because simply accounting it to 9-to-5 job burn-out, family time and “into the wee hours of the night” photo editing doesn’t feel like good enough excuses. So, I’m going with the “I was feeling allergy-crappy, blah blah blah…” excuse.
Seasonal allergies are not fun! And, can be quite frustrating for those of us who are constantly on the go. Plus, if you’re not mindful, it can turn into something worse, like a nasty nasal infection or Bronchitis. I’m trying to keep my immune system strong by taking it easy, R&R’ing, and enjoying a few of my favorite rituals (five of which I’ve listed below)…
1. Hot Baths
I’m a bath nut. I take a hot lavender bath just about every night. The product I absolutely love to use is Lavender Vanilla Bath Soak from Bath & Body Works. The fragrance is so soothing. It truly does get me into a restful state-of-mind.
2. Hot Tea
Once upon a time, I drank tea every morning. I was a total fiend for Samurai Chai Mate/Maharaja Chai Oolong hybrid from Teavana. But, eventually, I had to limit caffeine due to health reasons. If ever I’m ill, suffering from insomnia or just want to unwind for the night, I love Teavana’s Lavender Dreams White Tea. It contains very little caffeine, and tastes delicious!
3. Cozy Socks
I don’t usually wear socks at night. But, if I’m feeling under the weather, there’s something soothing about having socks on my feet. But, they can’t just be any old socks. They must be COZY, plush socks!
4. TV Time
I’m giving myself a little bit more lazy time than I normally do. Tonight, I’ll be watching the season finale of Downton Abbey.
5. Early to Bed
I’m being much stricter with myself about going to bed at a decent hour. Even if I don’t “feel” tired, I’m still making myself at least lay down in bed with the lights off. Sometimes, just giving my eyes a break from the bright light brings some much needed comfort that I couldn’t get otherwise.
That’s it. Not very exciting. But, comfort techniques are what’s on my mind at this moment. So, that’s what you get! LOL!
