Rain and Fog in Las Vegas

Rain and Fog in Las Vegas…

It’s not every day that you see Las Vegas in the fog. In fact, I don’t recall ever having seen our neon city in the fog. But, I did this past Saturday night.

As my bf, Dave, and I were coming home from a show out in North Las Vegas, we could see fog off into the distance. I remembered that I had my camera with me. So, we exited the freeway in an attempt to get some photos.

The fog was moving fast. We chased it. But, with every 1/4 of a mile we drove, the fogged seemed to be a 1/2 mile further.

Eventually, we were able to meet the tail-end of the fog in a dark alley. I hopped out of the car – camera in tow – and sped-walked toward it. I stood in the fog and snapped, snapped, snapped, while realizing how cool Downtown is at 2:00 AM.

“I need to come back soon,” I thought to myself.

Sunday morning, I reviewed the images and realized that you can’t “capture” the fog when you’re standing in it. What I should have done was photographed the fog from a distance… (Live and learn, right?)

Here in Vegas, we go crazy when it rains. And, I’m not just referring to the crappy drivers.

The rain really excites us, because it doesn’t happen very often. It might not be as rare as fog; but, still, we Las Vegans really appreciate the rain.

And, of course, the desert is especially happy… I mean, just look at her!

She looks happy, right?!
